Now a days we are more aware of chemicals and are worried about the effects of chemicals on our animals and we should be they are, are best friends? Why not make your own safe, non toxic flea repellents?
1-You can cut a lemon into quarters and place in a pint jug with boiling water and let stand over night. Put it in a spray bottle. Spray all over your animal (careful of eyes, under arm pits, and bottoms).
2-Using 10 ml. of sweet almond oil, add 10 drops of lavender and 5 drops of cedar wood. Shake well and use 1 or 2 drops rub on you animal once or twice a week to keep the fleas away.
Your Home: Fleas spend most of their time in your home and only visit your animal to feed. Wash your animal's bedding regularly fleas don’t survived a hot wash cycle. If you add eucalyptus oil to the final rinse it will also kill 99% of house dust mites.
Sprinkle a fine layer of ordinary table salt over your upholstery and carpets, leave over night then vacuum thoroughly. Fleas will leave.
A bath will help a badly infested animal. Rinse the animal off and do a final rinse with a couple of drops of Tea Tree Oil or Lavender oil in it.
Garlic added to you animals food or Brewer's yeast tablets will help keep fleas off your animal, the smell is excreted through the skin, which they don’t like.
