Anystis 100-Egg Hanging Vial
A New Way to Establish Anystis on the Crop
Natural Insect Control is developing a new 100-egg Anystis hanging vial, designed to provide a timed release of Anystis hatchlings directly into the crop.
This new delivery method is being evaluated as a practical way to introduce Anystis into greenhouse crops and establish this predatory mite where it is needed.

Introducing a New Delivery Method
Rather than releasing Anystis eggs directly onto the crop, the hanging vial provides a protected location for the eggs to hatch, with the emerging hatchlings able to move from the vial into the surrounding crop.
Each vial contains approximately 100 Anystis eggs.
The vial is designed to be:
- Easy to place directly within the crop
- Convenient to handle during crop production
- Designed for timed emergence of hatchlings
Suitable for evaluation as part of an integrated biological-control program

How the Anystis Vial Works
1. Hang the vial in the crop
The vial is positioned within the plant canopy where Anystis are intended to establish.
2. Eggs hatch inside the vial
The eggs remain in the vial while they develop and hatch.
3. Hatchlings emerge
Newly hatched Anystis can leave the vial and move into the surrounding crop.
4. Anystis establish in the crop
The objective is to provide a localized introduction point that can help establish Anystis within the crop.
Why Are We Developing This Product?
Introducing predatory mites into a greenhouse crop can require careful consideration of release method, timing and distribution.
The Anystis hanging vial is being developed to explore whether a protected, localized release point can provide growers with another option for establishing Anystis.
This approach may be particularly useful for growers looking for practical ways to introduce biological-control organisms into their crop without distributing loose eggs throughout the greenhouse.

About Anystis
Anystis is a predatory mite used in biological control programs.
The goal of introducing Anystis is to establish a population of predators within the crop that can contribute to the overall biological-control strategy.
As with any biological-control organism, successful establishment depends on factors such as:
- Crop and plant structure
- Environmental conditions
- Existing pest pressure
- Compatibility with other biological controls
- Pesticide history and compatibility
- Release timing and placement
A successful biological-control program should be developed around the specific crop and pest situation.
A New Product — Currently Being Evaluated
The Anystis 100-Egg Hanging Vial is a new delivery concept currently being evaluated in greenhouse trials.
We are collecting information on:
- Egg hatch and emergence
- Timing of hatchling release
- Vial placement
- Establishment within the crop
- Practicality for commercial greenhouse use
As trial information becomes available, we will continue to update this page with additional technical information and observations.
