Amblyseius andersoni is a species of predatory mite widely used for biological pest control in agriculture and horticulture. A. andersoni preys on a variety of common crop pests, including: Spider mites (e.g. two-spotted spider mite, European red mite), Broad mites, Cyclamen mites, Rust mites, Thrips larvae and Whitefly
Order Deadlines: ALL BENEFICIAL INSECTS – must be ordered and paid for by Friday (noon) for shipping the following Tuesday (Exceptions: Beneficial Nematodes, Ladybugs, and Praying Mantis).
A. andersoni adults are small (about 0.5 mm long), beige-colored mites with a droplet-shaped body. These predatory mites pierce their prey and extract their contents. An adult female can consume 4-5 thrips larvae per day under optimal conditions.
The life cycle includes five stages: egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph, and adult. Eggs are laid on the underside of leaves, often in the axils of leaf veins.
A. andersoni provides both preventive and curative pest control and can survive on pollen when pest populations are low. Its ability to navigate through plant trichomes makes it particularly effective on tomato plants. To apply, simply sprinkle the mites directly onto the plant leaves.
SHIPPED: Adult in carrier materials
OPTIMUM (6-40°C / 43-104°F), Optimum temperature range is between 20-28°C (68-82°F), Sensitive to relative humidity below 65%
RELEASE RATE: 2 to 5 predatory mites per square foot
