The codling moth is an important pest of apples worldwide. Other hosts include pear, quince, hawthorn, crab apple and walnut. Codling moth adults fly into orchards from nearby abandoned orchards, or from hosts in surrounding woodlots (apple, quince, hawthorn, and crab apple). In some areas, adults will overwinter in orchards.
CM-DA combo is the only monitoring system for male and female codling moths. These lures are effective for more than 2 months.
Pheromone traps can be used to monitor adult activity and will help determine the timing of insecticide application. The pheromone trap consists of a lure and diamond trap. These are ordered separately.
Feature:
Pest: The adult is approximately 9-12 mm in length with a wingspan of 19 mm. It is grey-brown in color with alternating bands of grey and white. The tips of the forewings are bronzed. Timing: Pheromone lures and traps should be installed before spring emergence or at bud break.
Rate:
In areas of less than 10 acres, two traps and two lures should be used.
